Maybe you missed my reply, since you were not subscribed, so here it is
again, since you say that you are subscribed now:

I have used most versions of OpenOffice.org since 1.0.3 and this could not
be done until OpenOffice.org 2.0. So if you could do this in the past, it
must either have been when using another office suite (MS Office?) or maybe
that feature was available in earlier versions than OpenOffice.org 1.0.3. I
use OpenOffice.org 1.1.5 Calc a lot and this just can't be done.

I fear that I have some setting that is preventing
this ability, because I cannot affect the size of the note as you say.
