Yes OpenOffice.org (OOo) will open .doc files made with MS
Office. Since MS Word is propriatory software, it may not look
exactly the same if there is complex formatting in the .doc file.
Furthermore, when creating a .doc file in OOo, you must select
the File type as Microsoft Word (97/2000/XP) (.doc).
