To set up Java under Mac OS X, you need to go to  the top menu item
tools, select options and then select
the OpenOffice.org item and expand it (if it is not already) then select
Java.  Click the "Use a Java Run Time
environment" button if it is not already selected (the circle must be
filled in.)  The Mac OS X version will
look for an installed JRE in
/Library/System/Frameworks/JavaVM.frameworks directory.  If you managed
to install a JRE somewhere else, you will have to tell OpenOffice.org
where you installed it by clicking on the
New button and answering the wizard questions.
As installed, OpenOffice.org detected both my 1.4.2_09 and 1.5.0_06 JRE
installations.
