Sorry to jump in so late, but I had a similar problem with the Mac
version
saving to a Samba share. It was a known bug that turned out to be a
setting
in one of the OOo files that turned file locking on. I gather that the
default
setting was so that two people would not try to edit the same file on a
shared drive. Turning it off solved the problem.
I don't remember quite where it was. Perhaps this will jog someone
else's memory and they can point to it.

OK. So it is a more general networking problem, rather than being
related to just the network drive mapping.
When trying to save via Network Neighbourhood, is the message still
"Error saving the document Untitled1: \
\<path to file>\Test.odt does not exist."
or is the "Untitled1" part replaced with something different?
