The problem appears to be not so much the language itself but the font used for the user interface.
This part of OO seems to be poorly documented and poorly implemented. The following is my understanding -- I hope it might help somewhat. OO claims to use by default the "system" font setting for the user interface whatever that might mean in unix like systems. But it possibly related to the "locale" setting for your system. What response do you get from issuing the command: % echo $LANG in a terminal window? And % printenv | grep "LC_" It is possible to override this default for OO. But the documentation here is also a little vague. It seems you should select Tools -> Options ... -> OpenOffice.org -> fonts (this cold be difficult to find if written in the Greek alphabet ;) ) Now check "Apply replacement table" and select "Andale Sans UI" in the "Font" list (you may have to actually type this in, with the spaces, and select a preferred font in the "Replace with" list. Click the green tick to enter it in the replacement table and there check "Always" and "Screen" Now click "OK". > And if I tried to write the alphabet > was also the Latin one: only the menu was in Greek alphabet. > Nevertheless last week-end I uninstall Kubuntu, and after this > erasing I reinstall Ubuntu; this was not a sovra-installation, > but a really new one.
