On Windows, minimise all the windows *except* the two Writer windows and then 
*right* click on the task bar. The menu that pops up offers two "tiling" 
options: horizontal and vertical. Choose the more convenient. Your two Writer 
documents (or views of the same document) will then be either side by side 
(vertical tiling) or one above the other (horizontal tiling). Each window will 
have its own scroll bars so you can easily have two different views of the same 
document (or spreadsheet or ...).

When you initially tile the windows they each use 1/2 the screen vertically or 
horizontally. You can make one window narrower/shorter and the other 
wider/taller by simply resizing them separately in the usual way.

To toggle between the windows, just click in "the other" one.
