The X11 Version, you probably downloaded via Apple's website is only for OS-X 10.3.x, as it is written on the page. I assume, you are on an Mac with OS-X 10.4.x (Version number is displayed by Apple-menu:About this Mac).
Please take your install disk(s), which came with your Mac and install only X11 (!) direct of your install disk.
