I just found a website from Malaysia, selling a office software called
"My
Office 2007"
but then I also found that the interfacing all totally same as Open
Office...
And they are selling it at MYR199
MYR199 is equivalent to USD54, which doesn't seem that bad if they
include support and other value added bits and supply it on CD. Do you
know if they do?
By rights, the open office is open source, but they just modified the
title
of the software and some words
then as a new created software by them.
That's ok. The license allows that.
Just would like do know whether this already against the term and
condition
of FREE use....
Whether they've modified the code or not, the license must still be the
LGPL, which says you are allowed to copy and use the application for
free. If they've included in the package add-on things like additional
fonts, templates, clipart etc. then these may not be free. So you may
not be allowed to simply copy the CD (if there is one) or the package as
a whole. You would have to separate the free from the non-free.

Thank you very much.
I just do not want so many consumers being cheated.
They currently acknowledge fairly clearly on the front page of their web
site that MyOffice is derived from OpenOffice.org. Of the derivative
vendors that have been mentioned on this list, these people seem to be
one of the fairest.
