You haven't loaded the X11 app from the install disk. It is under Options. X11 is the Graphics support for Unix, and Linux. Apple does not include this in their installations because not everyone is using Linux or Unix.
After loading X11, one can investigate more Linux and Unix applications.
This a small bump for New Mac users.  Most everything is easier.
