Many thanks,

I made a .rtf file with a drawing using Wordpad. I happily imported it into
OOo, including the drawing. This on Win XP Pro/XP2 using OOo 2.0.3. By
"imported" I simply mean Writer opened the file.
What OS are you using? Which version of OOo? How did you make the .rtf file?

Harold,
Thank you for your response which prompted me to have a closer look at what
was going on. The embedded photographs in the generated rtf file were not
present in Word Pad or Works either. The program which generated the file
was Legacy, a genealogical program and whilst I do not have Word a number of
people have reported no problem with it, or at least not this one.
It would seem, therefore, that the rtf output from Legacy is non-standard
(and please MS conspirator theorists don't let this start another debate!!).
Apologies for not mentioning my set-up before; it's Windows XP SP2 Home and
OOo 2.04 (but the problem was also there with OOo 2.03)
Thanks again,
Ron Ferguson
