If you do not want to buy the software, try these options:

    * Adobe offers an online subscription service that allows you to pay
a fee to turn a set number documents into PDF files
(http://createpdf.adobe.com).
    * CutePDF (http://www.cutepdf.com/) is a free PDF-creation program
    * PDF Creator is installed as a printer driver. To create a PDF,
open your document, then print to the PDF Creator "printer." The result
is a PDF file.

PDF Creator (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/) is excellent
for Windows base systems (haven't tried it using linux/WINE yet).

However, doesn't 2.0.4 address some of the older PDF issues? You might
want to look at the release notes to see if that will fix the problem.

That said, I just print to cups-pdf; that embeds the fonts and works
just fine. Output is ESP Ghostscript 815.02, PDF Version: 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x).
