Where did you attempt to download this from? There is no editable
version of the Writer Guide (the one produced by OOoAuthors) on
the Documentation Project's website (which only has PDFs of the
OOoAuthors books). There is one (formatted for 6x9-inch pages) on
the OOoAuthors website, in addition to editable copies of the
individual chapters (formatted for letter-size paper and
available either individually or all together in a zip file for
convenience)..
