Well I got rid of a slew of different formats where I had been playing with
formating and not knowing what I was doing. Now the first page is on the
right side. That's a start. Now for some more reading on formating, page
breaks numbering, headers and footers. Maybe I can make it work after that.
I can see that I have to understand and use page styles for sure.

Sorry but missed the origional post on this one.. question are you using
page
styles? if not try that.. you can set the first page to "leftpage" and
have
it follow with default which would make the next page "rightpage" if you
need
a blank page.. insert "page break" and sellect the next style you want..
If
you are not using styles you could save yourself a whole lot of time
learning
to use them.. Fred

Sorry to reply to my own post but I made a typo that turns it into
non_sense.
I said "... must change the handedness of that original *blank* page".
I didn't mean *blank*, I meant *first*.
The handedness of the original *first* page changes.
