First of all, you have not removed any decimal places. They are
just not showing.
First of all, you need to have Tips enabled. Go to Tools >
Options > OpenOffice.org > General. Under Help, make sure Tips is
checked.
Now, click the cell where you have the quotient to highlight it.
Move the mouse cursor across the icons to the right of these three
icons: B, I, U slow enough so that a little pop up window identifies
the icon. On my system, the ninth icon to the right of the U icon is
identified as "Number Format: Add Decimal Place". When you find this
icon, click it once for each decimal place you want to add.
The icon to the right of this one will reduce the number of
decimal places by one for each click.
To subtract Cell A5 from D2 and enter the result in F9
(F9=D2-A5):
Click the cell F9.
Enter an equal sign into this cell. (Up near the top you will see a
box that contains an =.)
Click D2. (This box now contains =D2.)
Enter a minus sign (This box now contains =D2-.)
Click A5. (This box now contains =D2-A5.)
Click the green checkmark to the left of this box, or use <Enter>.
If you have used Excel before, you probably did not have to use
an "=" in your mathematical operations. You do in Calc.
I would suggest you get the Migration Guide if you have used
Excel which is at
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/.
Look through the other manuals available on that web page. Some of
them may also be helpful to you.
