You can download OpenOffice on the official site
<http://www.openoffice.org/>. It will cost nothing. You have after that
to open the Word documents, and "Export" them in PDF format (File>
Export in PDF format). Try it before you send the PDF version to
everybody: maybe the conversion will not be perfect, if your Word files
use complex features.
