I just installed "open office" for my Mac OS X and it says I can't open

My address is: Jan Kennedy. P.O. Box 69, Biggs, CA 95917 if I need to
get it by CD.
That's the X11 feature of MacOS. MacOS X, as you probably know, is built
on the Unix operating system. The entire Unix system is there, /except/
for the part that puts windows on the screen, because MacOS X has its
own stuff to do that. OpenOffice.org (which is the official name of both
the organization and the program) is working on a MacOS X version, but
it isn't ready, yet. In the meantime, because OpenOffice.org is already
usable on Unix systems, they have provided this version, which works,
provided that you add the missing X11 piece.
For MacOS X 10.3, you have to download it from
<URL:http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/x11formacosx.html>. In
MacOS X 10.4, it's already on the install DVD.
Note that there /will/ be some clumsiness caused by having two different
sets of windows, one for MacOS and one for Unix. That's why
OpenOffice.org is working on making a version especially for MacOS.
