If so, and if the recipient has MS Word but does not have OpenOffice, then they definitely won't be able to read the document. There are four alternatives for how to overcome this: 1. You can save the document as a Word file. (File > Save As, then for File Type, select Word) 2. If you're using OpenOffice versions 2.0.4, there's an option to File > Send > E-mail as MS Word. 3. You can export the document as a PDF file, if the recipient only needs to read or print the file (but not edit it). Or you choose File > Send > E-mail as PDF, to accomplish the same thing. 4.
