Subject: Re: [users] Calc, _easily_ summing sparsely
populated columns?
Is there easy (one-step, mouse-only, shortcut or
mouse+shortcut) way
of inserting sum for several sparsely populated (with gaps)
columns?
Like in that _other_ spreadsheet app you select an area
with values,
click "Sum" button on the toolbar and column-wise sums are inserted
right below the selection.
Thanks a lot.
WBR,
K. Palagin.
Try doing it in the opposite order. Enter the cell where you
want the sum. Click the "Sum" button, then select the area
with the values using the cursor. Click the green checkmark
at the top or simply use the Enter key.
Dan
That works if I need to sum just one column, but I am talking about
several columns at once. In this case it either does not work or I am
doing something wrong.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to do, but it seems to me
like it works for multiple columns. I just entered some numbers in cells
A2:A5 and B2:B5. I clicked on B1 to make it the active cell. I clicked
the "Sum" button, and then highlighted the range A2:B5. It gave the sum
of the 8 numbers I had entered.
