     May I suggest you download some of the manuals that are 
available. http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/ 
has a list of manuals that should help. Look specifically in the 
Getting Started section. There are individual chapters that you can 
download. These should help.
     Also look for tutorials and How to documentation at the bottom of
http://documentation.openoffice.org/.
     When you begin to tackle Impress, I have a presentation on my web 
site which describes how to create a simple presentation. Let me know 
then, and I will send the URL to it.
