If so, you need to stop it before you can delete the old OpenOffice. To check if it's running, look carefully at all the icons in the System Tray (bottom right of the screen). If there's one that is grey with two flying birds on it (like a kid's picture of gulls) that's Quickstarter. To stop it running, *right* click on the icon and then click on "Exit Quickstarter". Now try the deletion again.
