1.  No it is not possible to read MS Works files with OpenOffice.  You have to 
save them in a OpenOffice.org readable format such as Rich Text (.rtf) or Word 
document (.doc).
2.  It is possible to read in Excel files as long as the total number of rows 
in any worksheet does not exceed 64,000.
