I downloaded openOffice 2.0 from the web site. when I tried to install it I received the message, " openOffice.org is not installed on your system. Please re-install it." This is hard for me to understand because I see that openOffice.org is listed in the applications folder. There was nothing mentioned on the install CD about X11.app. Even though I received the error message I previously reported about X11.app when I looked for it in the utilities folder I could not find it.

Today, I received a CD install disk for openOffice 2.0. I am using
a PowerMac running Panther(OS 10.4.8) and I have 768 megs of DRMM..
I tried to install openOffice and after I copied it to the
Applications folder, it would not open. The info for installation
on a Mac, said that I would need X11.app in order to install the
openOffice. I was referred to Apple support and I downloaded that
file butr when I went to install it, I received the message that "
it couldn't be installed because newer software was already
installed.

The CD said that installation was easy, but I have not found that
to be true. Can you give me some advice regarding this issue?

You have to use the installation disk to install the X11 windowing
system. There is a good How-To here:

I would also suggest you look over the information avaiable at
