for some reason I always knew these as Hard CR and Soft CR.. However mine work just fine. OO 2.0.2 with linux.. you confused me by when you said newline key.. BTW line spacing does not change when you use new line vs new paragraph. however spacing before and after a PARAGRAPH do. line spacing is from baseline to baseline excluding decenders. So you need to change it with a new paragraph style, or manually modify the line you are on with format.. sorry for the confusion..
