I studied this post and for he life of me I can't figure out your problem.. when you say you have "about" 10 extra pages.. are they at the end if so just delete them.. or are you talking about opening a 262 page document and it has 272. If this is the case it could be formating, look at margins (top bottom left right), font line spacing, default line spacing (based upon the font your are using), spacing before and after paragraphs, space in headers/footers.. and the list goes on.. you need to give us more information?? .
