Hi Annette,

for quick help, try this workaround.

It is reported, that the FontBook application recognize the font as "...Dont use this fonts"

But there is a discussion of a workaround:
Bug is reported on OO.org: 71096
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=71096

and the workaround is discussed on the trinity.neooffice.org - list
http://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php? name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3414

The suggested workaround:
Open the terminal application and type:

sudo mkdir -p /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF.bad
<return>
enter your password
<return>
sudo mv /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF/Vera*.ttf /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/ fonts/TTF.bad
<return>

the code lines above will create a new folder "TTF.bad" and will copy all "Vera" fonts to this folder. This must be done with administrator "root" rights (sudo)

L.S.

Installed OpenOffice a few days ago on my iMac (Mac OS X 10.4.8) worked fine.
Recently did a Software-update and since then it won't start anymore.

Navigating with the X11-shell to
/Applications/OpenOffice.org 2.0.app/Contents/MacOS/program
and trying to start
./soffice
it comes up with the OpenOffice log and the " status bar" comes halfway and then stops.
In the shell window it reads:
sh: line 1: crash_report: command not found
?????

I suspect that that is not really the problem, probably something is missing and OO.o tries to output some error info with crash_report which cannot be found either.

Annette Hildering
