OOo comes with Ubuntu???
I think it is Dapper but it is a
version to be used with VMware so I can
run Linux on my windows system.

I still am downloading the Ubuntu
for the past 4 hours and 2 to go
and this is on Broadband - slow site

I see so many people talk about Ubuntu
and OOo so I wanted to ask here first

If you know of a place where I can get
the information I want, I would like to know
about it.

Also How easy is it to update or modify
OOo on Ubuntu - Dapper???

Since my only work with OOo is Windows
and I have not dealt with a Linux product
since 2000. That is why I want to try out
the system and get input about all aspects.

Is there a better Linux/OOo combo?
with less problems???

I don't know about "better" - it's almost starting a religious war there.

I have run various flavours of Mandrake/Mandriva, Kubuntu and now gentoo. I also set up a ubuntu server under vmware preparing to load it on the machine which serves my mail. I would not recommend gentoo for a newbie to linux.

Kubuntu is at least as easy to run as Mandriva. Be prepared to google and search users archives. The ubuntu/kubuntu users seem very encouraging and most problems you will find already answered in the forum(s).

OOo runs very happily on any of these systems.

For a "toe-in-the-water" I don't think you will go far wrong with ubuntu/kubuntu. I presume you aware that the difference is gnome vs KDE desktop, which is very much a matter of taste.

Have fun anyway.
