Not sure if this is what you want ...

Create a paragraph style, let's call it "Script". Set it's "next style"  to 
"Script". It has, let's say, 3.0 cm *indent* in the "Before text" setting and 
-3.0cm in the "First line" setting. Adjust the indent to suit; the point is 
that the "Before text" indent is plus x and the "First line" setting is minus 
the same x.

To use it, select the style and then type the name of the character followed by 
a tab. Provided you don't use the Enter key, all the text you type now will 
indent to that tab leaving the character's name standing proud on the left.

Like this:
Harold    This is what Harold said, imagine it extending |
               to the end of the line and then wrapping on to|
               the next line.                                                 |

where the "|" characters indicate the right margin.

When you eventually hit the Enter key, you can hit it again to get a blank 
line, if you like, and then type the name of the next character followed by a 
tab.
