Hello; I have been using your openoffice program since early September on my new MacBook laptop with Mac OS x version 10.4.8, 1.83 GHz Intel Core duo and X11. It has been working fine through this past Friday when I shut down. On Sunday, to do some paper work ,I started up and it will not open OpenOffice. I get the window that shows it progressing to the mid point, then it disappears. On the menu bar it says openoffice, file, etc.. for about 1 minute and then that disappears. I have downloaded it 2 times since and reinstalled but I get the same thing. Why did it work fine last week and not now? I have updated the X11 and my Mac Os software is up to date. I ran disk utility to make sure that everything was great with my system software. I didn't install any other new software. Please help. i have information I need to get to for my classroom. I really love the program but if it won't work on the Mac when needed it doesn't do me any good. Thank you for your time. Deborah P. Coates NBCT EAYA-Art Visual Art Instructor Clayton Middle School
Dear Deborah Apple sent out a X11 update with defective Vera fonts a few weeks ago. They've aknowledged the problem and we're awaiting a 'cleaned' version... Meanwhile, this users list has been inundated with Mac Intel users that all have the same problem: OOo won't start again. Please refer to the OpenOffice.org Mac porting site: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/ more in particular the Nov 5th news item http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/news/news2006.html#20061105 where you'll find a quite simple workaround to get OOo on the road again. good luck -- Guy
