Well, it is easier in my opinion to paste the text as "non formatted
text" then, so that it takes the "current" format, without importing its
own format to the document.

FWIW, I have found that, when I need to import text into a formatted
document, it is better to import it into a new document, set it up and
then paste that into the first document. It's more than I want to do
sometimes, but it saves me a great deal of frustration.
