It is possible that you do not have enough memory on your computer. Can you please try with a another computer and if the problem repeats itself, open a bug report and add the powerpoint file to that bug report. To open a bug report : http://openoffice.org -> "My Pages" -> "Register", then when you receive a confirmation email, "Login" and "File an issue". In this way the relevant developers will see your bug report / suggestion and you will also see the progress of this feature / bug report if it is accepted.
