The download of X11 on the Apple site is for 10.3.x only. You need to install the X11 from the CD or DVD that came with your machine or retail version of 10.4.x. Boot from the CD and install. At the install it will let you choose the type of install. You want to install an optional package, X11. When done with the installation. Restart your Mac and then install Open Office and all should
be well.
