Does Insert > File work? I haven't tried it, so I may be totally
offbase here.

Is this page what you are looking for? "Formula Reference Tables"
I'm not sure what you mean by the "top level menu", but if you go
to OpenOffice.org Math in the Help, on the "Welcome to the OOo
Math Help" page, under How to Work with OOo Math, this page is
listed.
