Just a thought, and you may have tried these already. When you say "freezes", is the cpu busy then, or not? If it is busy, then perhaps it is simply taking a very long time to process the book (as you say it is large) and so try leaving it overnight and see whether it completes. If it is not busy, then perhaps there is a bug.
