My Athlon 64 speed problem with XP Pro
started when I updated with the "Windows Driver Package -
Advanced Micro Devices (AmdK8) Processor
(05/27/2006 1.3.2.0)" on HP's site.

Now many different programs run slower on this
HP Pavilion zv6000 (XP Pro) Laptop with a
Athlon 64 bit processor 3200+ 498Mhz 512MB of RAM
than the same on a
Compaq Presario (XP Home) desktop with an old PIII? or P4?
533Mhz processor and 198 MB of RAM
other programs we not affected.

That is why I think it could be the drivers for XP that was to match
to your Core Duo chipset.

That is why when I find a newer update for the Athlon, I will replace my current driver
and hope that the new driver will fix the problem.

Try the Intel support site or contact Intel support

1. presentation.
2. exact steps, which detail _actions_ that are executed slowly
3. screenshot of System properties (right-click "My Computer").
4. screenshot of System Summary in Winmsd (Start, Run, winmsd, System Summary (make sure that all information is visible).

Please post link here, so that I could verify with Athlon XP and somebody with Core Duo could verify too.

But before doing so make sure that Core Duo system is correctly configured (chipset and video drivers are correctly installed, see if changing resolution and color depth helps).

Can you provide the file somehow, say by posting it at
www.mytempdir.com) so that somebody could confirm that?
