Not sure what you mean by "set up from the style tags", but if you have the chapter, heading etc styles listed in Tools > Outline Numbering and the Table of Contents of the document compiles okay, they should become bookmarks in the PDF automatically, without you having to do anything else to enable this. They work for me.
Perhaps I have misunderstood. Could you explain a bit more what the problem is?
