If by multi-page article, you mean, e.g. intro on page 1 and continued on page 3, then this is done with linked frames in OOo. There's a good example of this in one of the tri-fold brochure templates for OOo. Just insert the frames you want to use and then link them from one to the other via the Format -> Frame -> Options(tab). Text, graphics, tables etc. will flow through the linked frames no matter where they are in the document.
