2006/12/2, Elliot Austein <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
* /I am using version 2.0 of OpenOffice.org. My problem is : I
can't get it to start. When I double-click on the icon of
OpenOffice.org 2.0app, I get the error message
/
"OpenOffice.org cannot be started because X11 is not installed. Please
install Apple X11 first."
But it IS installed. At least I went through the motions - I went to my
Apple program disk & navigated to where the disk offers installations &
followed the instructions.
I have an aluminum PowerBook G4 with OS X Version 10.4.8.
Thanks.

Hi Elliot
If you installed X11, you should be able to find it in the map Applications
Utilities.
To start X11, double click on it. A window opens on your screen, with a
prompt (the name of your computer, followed by a rectangle). To find out if
you have the right version of X11, type X -version and click return. The
Xterminal should now indicate XFree Version 4.4.0 / X window System etc. If
it tells you it's version 4.3.0, you have installed the Panther version, not
the Tiger.
This is only one of the things about X11 you can learn by looking at the
http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/support.html site.
One of the files is Howto_OOo_2.0_MacOSX_english.pdf
Good luck!
