I have no problem whatsoever to send a document as *.odt, *.doc or *.pdf. OOo finds my mail program in a whiff (Mail on an Intel iMac). I didn't even have to install or chose anything in OOo. Your message says it has an Internet connection, not an email client. You have to have an email client installed AND an Internet connection.
