Thank you Arnold. Yes I am a new Mac-user and finding it rewarding
and frustrating depending on what I am doing. Open-office looks like
it is well done and I am excited to start using it. But yes I agree
it should be stated clearly where everything is.

start OpnOffice is Writer. If you want to use one of the other
applications you must open an existing file created by e.g. Calc or
goto File>New>...
You will find the other applications listed there.
