I tried putting "StarWars" into cell A1, and a star wars screen appeared. which I then closed. Later, insulting remarks were printed in the cell if I tried to run star wars again. Even after I deleted the input cell information, this is still remembered when another spreadsheet is opened.

This worries me! What if these "jokers" who added this into Calc also have inserted other malicious software! Traps that gather sensitive information! This is definitely not professional! Micrososft wouldn't allow it! Sun should remove it! and check the whole suite for other unwanted programs.
IIRC Microsoft products have contained easter eggs in the past. Never seen one in a Sun product though. Unix is such fun anyway - who needs easter eggs?

However, provided the easter eggs have been included by the developers themselves at some stage rather than some external hacker then I would not be too worried.

I tried rerunning it again and I got "oh no, not again!" displayed in the cell each time. I interpret this as a bit of fun but can appreciate that others will interpret it in other ways, such are the dangers of communicating across cultures and languages. I must admit that I felt it was unprofessional when I first ran it and I do agree that OOo would be better without it.

Besides, it runs too slowly to be really enjoyable as a game.

Yes it's true:

James Knott to users on nov 15:
  1. In Calc, enter =Game("StarWars") into any cell and get a playable
     version of Space Invaders
  2. In Calc, enter =Game(A1:C3;"TicTacToe") into cell A4 for a
     playable version of the game

enjoy
