Hi, I'm a newcomer to OpenOffiece.org and I hope to stay here. I have a couple of questions. First, how can I modify the margins in writer so that all documents opened afterward will use this margins (something like modifying the normal.dot template in MS Word)? Second, yesterday, I copied text and images from a page on the internet and pasted it in Writer. The text pasted well, but the images were not placed in the document. This worked when I did it using Word. Is there a special way to do this using Writer, or is it not possible? Thanks in advance. Oscar
Hello Oscar • OpenOffice.org is very template and style oriented. What you need to do is adapt the Default Page Template and save it. You can also adapt the Default Paragraph and Default Character Templates. The procedure is explained in the page Changing default template in Help (F1) • Concerning the illustrations that don't copy along with the text, I suppose you're working on a Mac. It's been reported in this list that there's a problem copying illustrations from webpages, probably because you pass from the Aqua window (webpage) to the X11 window (OOo). This problem will be solved when OOo's developers will make the program work directly under Aqua, without the help of X11. Or when X11 developers find a solution for it. In the mean time, I suppose you'll have to drag the pictures from the webpage to your desktop (or Ctrl-click ans save them somewhere) and in a second mouvement import them into your OOo page. Yes, it's a *drag*. -- Guy using english OOo 2.0.4 on a iMac Intel DualCore Tiger and dutch OOo 2.1 RC 1 on a G4 PPC Powerbook Tiger --please reply only to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dodoes can't afford to have headaches
