In OpenOffice, there is no "Excel", but a similar program with name
"Calc". If the Excel files of your wife are very complex, she could have
problems with the conversions between Calc and MS Excel. If they are
not, conversion should be satisfactory. Try it. In any case, she will be
well advised to verify on MS Excel if the modified files are correct.
The same can be said for conversions between OO Writer and MS Word.

excell at work, she would like to be able to take work home or email it work on
it in open office then take it back to work with her. Are there any
compatability issues.
