Michele, thank You, all this I have already done. to clarify: I'm having about 10 different documents, each document should start on the right side (this works fine), this first page is without page heading (is also working), on the second page should be the title as page header (this also works) on the third page should be the author as page heading (this does not work) I can put there the sub-title and any paragraph style but not the author.
The first paragraph of each document is the name of the author of the text (not of the document) that's why I named this paragraph style 'author'. To have the first page of each document on the right side without heading I created a page style: first page - header unticked and page layout settings: only right. in the organizer there is the 'default' style as next style. in the 'default' style the page layout is left and right. to start the next document with the page style: 'first page' within the master document I needed a page break before the first paragraph of each document. the first paragraph is the author with the paragraph style name: 'author'. to get the page break before this paragraph I ticked the insert break field in the text flow type: page - before – with page style: first page - page number: 0. I am not using the default styles and formating from open office writer - the paragraph style have all different names like title, sub-title and author - therefore there is no Heading 1 or Heading 2 - I don't think thant the changing of the names is the problem since I can have the title (style: 'title') and the sub-title (style: 'sub-title') in the page heading. I hope this is understandable - since I didn't get an answer in the german list I tried the english one with quit a few more readers. but some more difficulties in explaining. thanks Heike 2006/12/12, Michele Zarri <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

For example: - the author is formatted as Heading 1 - the title is formatted as Heading 2 ** Note that this is totally arbitrary, I could have chose any Heading level e.g. Heading 8 and Heading 9. Then: 1. Format > Page > Header tab and tick Header on, untick Same Content Left/Righ 2. Move the cursor on the first page header and do 3. Insert > Cross reference > document Tab. Chose Chapter on the leftmost listbox, "Chapter Name" from the right most, level 1 in the bottom right edit box 4. click Insert Insert a new page (the one where you want the title) and repeat steps 2 to 4 above with the only difference that now at the end of step 3 you will select 2 in the bottom right edit box * remember that Heading 2 is where you place the title * Now your headers should do what you want. Cheers, Michele
