When I took a look at the download site, it provided downloads for Mac,
Solaris and Windows... didi you try the sidebar on the OS list?
If it doesn't work, try again a bit later

Good that it worked for you (the Mac download is still in a mess).

As far as I know, PDF's can't be edited by OpenOffice (unless it's only a
question of filling in a PDF-form).

You'll have to use (expensive) Adobe,  or search on the web to find some
cheaper replacements (google "edit PDF" gives many).
Maybe www.CutePDF.com (free) is a good option.
