For starters, here was the problem: I keep getting this error message when trying to install the Open Office.org 2.0.4 package.
"The file C:\Documents and Settings\owner\Desktop\OpenOffice.org 2.0 Installation Files\openoffice.ort20.msi" is not a valid installation package for the product Openoffic.org 2.0. Try to find the installation package "openoffice.org20.msi" in a folder from which you can install Oopen Office.org 2.0" But I am pointing it to the "openoffice.org20.msi" in the folder "OpenOffice.org 2.0 Installation Files" which the file I clicked that I downloaded from the internet put on my Desktop. When I finally click "cancel", I get error 1714 saying "Open Office cannot be removed. Contact your technical support team" If I need to uninstall the open office version I have on my computer now (2.0.2) before I install this newer version,((2.0.4) what if the same thing happens? I'm a bit nervous about doing that because I may lose my processor altogether. Thanks for your help, Angie Anyhow, lots of people read it cause I got a bunch of read receipts in my Outlook Express, but I did not get any replies. So I had to figure it out myself. Maybe this will be of help to someone else. (The key to me was the part in the error message saying: "open office cannot be removed".) So I got the idea that: in order to install a newer version of Open Office, I have to remove the old install. But, when it tried to remove it, I got the same error message. So I realized that it was the msi from the old install that Windows was asking for. So I downloaded the older version again, opened it and it installed the Installation package on my desktop and I was then able to uninstall the older version. Then I installed the new version without any problems. Angie www.heiscoming.freeservers.com www.rants.8m.com www.jcfaith.com/AnnetteE www.myspace.com/Annettesmusic
