I was sure that OOo 2 was supposed to have incorporated
text-to-column functionality in Calc instead of having to install the
macro (which I haven't been able to get to work properly). But a
quick scan of archives seems to suggest you do still have to install
the macro. Is that right, or is there another way to split one
column in a spreadsheet into multiple columns based on comma, quote,
space, or other characters? This would be a VERY helpful feature...

BTW, I have the latest macro package but still cannot figure out how
to load it. Anthony Chilco kindly sent some instructions a while ago,
but that was for an earlier version, and unfortunately his
instructions didn't match my screen options, and everything I tried
failed.
Please help me understand how to install this macro as it's an
important feature for me.
Thanks and happy holidays!

Put the downloaded file somewhere it can stay. Then use Tools >Package
Manager. That's it.
The Tools menu will acquire another branch, "Add-Ons" and "Text to
Columns" will be in that branch. The Help menu will acquire "About text
to columns". You may have to re-start OOo to get those changes.
