2006/12/21, [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

I have downloaded the Mac OpenOffice program to read Word on my lap
top-Intel system.
When I try to open documents, I get Error Number 10660.
Can you explain and help??
Many thanks,
Judie Muggia

Judie,

A little Googling gave me the following answer:
The error -10660 is (I believe) because the system was trying to launch an
app that was in the trash.
So the filke you try to open is associated with a program that isn't
available anymore (and might still be in the trash - you can look in the
trash or empty it).

When you ctrl-click (looong click of right click) on the file, it gives you
the option 'Open with...' where you can see what program it was associated
with, and where you can chose OpenOffice.org as the program you want to open
it with.
Apple-I (or Show info) will tell you the same, and there you can chose to
open all documents of this type with OOo.
See also in OpenOffice.org Tools > Options > Load/Save (click on +) >
Microsoft where you can chose how M$ files will be opened and saved by
default.

good luck
