Some people mention Mozilla Thunderbird. I would suggest using
Linux on all of your computers and the KDE desktop. It contains a
program called Kontact. This program includes an email client, a
contact application, a calendar, To-do List, News Ticker,
Synchronization, Notes, News, Weather, Journal, and KPilot
configuration (for the Palm Pilot).
