Hi,

Thank you both for your help. Fixing column headings is solved. I've used the Window>Freeze solution. I think this is how I did it in Excel, but 11 years is a long time for the aging memory.

For the other item, I've found both icons I described when I searched on Background in the Help facility. The one with "ab a pen and coloured line" is described as "highlighting" and the "pouring paint pot" as "background colour". I only have the latter on my Formatting toolbar. I went through the customise formatting routine but could not find the "highlighting" icon there. No matter, background colour is what I want, so that solved also and now I have found it in the Help section. Maybe I should have looked harder!

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition by the way and OOo2.1.

Thank you again.

Regards,

Dave.

1. Format, Print Ranges, Edit, "Rows to repeat".
2. You need button that has "ab" on it with a marker and yellow
coloring. It might be not visible, so you need to show it via View,
Toolbars, Customize, Formatting and putting checkmark next to
"Highlighting" (it should be close to the end of the list).

I think #1 is for printing. Does it affect screen scrolling too?

No. 2 doesn't exist in Calc on my OOo 2.1 Win XP Pro system. It exists in Writer though. Is this a platform specific thing?
