I saved some files with the same password (a mix of uppercase, lower case

Any suggestions/help would be very much appreciated!

I had a similar experience years ago with software which was a copy of a
very good brand of software. There was absolutely no doubt that I was using
the correct password.

I would not trust OpenOffice enough to use a password with it. It is very
buggy software. If it is necessary to use OO passwords, I would find a way
of backing up any document securely without them.

There is a password cracker on www.ooomacros.org but it is possible that
your document is also corrupt.

I've been using a password on my important work for over five years on OO, and have had no trouble, save for the occasional mistyping of the password.
